Lake Merwin

Memorial weekend at Lake Merwin

(he was not grumpy, the sun was in his eyes)

Dominick and I have some friends that own a cabin at Campers Hideaway on Lake Merwin. They invited us to come up for the weekend. It was very fun. On Saturday, when the sun was out, we went out on the boat for a little bit.

Nicholas thought the boat was very fun. It was a little windy and bumpy so I thought he would not like it but I was wrong. He wanted to go back on the boat on Sunday when it was raining.

Trinity could hardly contain herself she was so excited to be on the boat. She sat in the front like this almost the whole time.

We stopped to eat a quick snack and Trinity wanted to go swimming. This water is run off from the mountain, melted snow, very cold. We were like go ahead jump in. She hit the water with both legs and quickly changed her mind about swimming in the cold water.

Trinity has wanted to go fishing for a long time. Since we don't really fish she has had to wait. Steve, another friend that was invited to the cabin, likes to fish. He brought his fishing gear and let Trinity fish with him.

Mike and Chantel have a 40' foot trailer with a sun room built on. The sun room has a TV (with dish network) a fire place, 3 full sized futons and a table w/four chairs. The trailer has a full sized kitchen, flushing toilet and everything. I would not call it roughing it by any means =) It is very nice and pretty big.

This is the kids on the back deck with the view of the lake.

No Secrets

I cannot keep secrets for the life of me. I told Dominick about his new camera yesterday and gave it to him a month and a half before our anniversary. I know that he has wanted a nice camera for years. I also know that he could and will use it a lot between now and our anniversary. He was very excited to play around with it last night and he took it to work today.

Today is my errand day so I took the kids to go pick up a few things. New swimming suits were the first things on our list. Nicholas' swim shorts from last year were a size 12 months. He wears a size 3T now. Trinity wears her swim suits so much that she wears them out before they get too small for her. Target had them on sale for $6 each (they are cute ones too). We are going to Lake Merwin this weekend with some friends so I bought a few little outfits for the kids. I love Target because you get cute, sturdy clothes that don't cost a ridiculous amount of money.

My Garden

It's been over 90 degrees here the last few days (I love it). So I have been watering my garden in the morning before it gets too hot and then again in the late afternoon. Yesterday I noticed that my spinach is popping up. Trinity also had some of her flowers that she planted coming through the soil. We were both pretty excited.

My spinach

I went to Best Buy yesterday and bought Dominick's anniversary gift. I got him the Nikon D60 with a 4 year accidental service plan (covers just about anything). I would not buy something like that without an accidental service plan. I have the 2 year accidental service plan on my little Nikon Coolpix that I got for Christmas. I had to get a new because Nicholas got a hold of my old digital camera, 2 year olds and cameras don't mesh too well. I see people bring cameras and video cameras in (Geek Squad at Best Buy) to try to get them fixed and it costs more to fix the camera than it does to just buy a new one most of the time. This is not an ad for Best Buy so I will stop =)

More exciting news...
Nicholas got his hair cut for the second time in his life yesterday. I cut it for the first time on his 2nd birthday.

before his first haircut

after his first hair cut

It's been 10 months. His hair is curly and it crazy wild after he wakes up.

before his second hair cut
after his second haircut

It's still longer than I want it but Dominick is ok with it because you can still see his curls. He shouldn't get so hot this summer either. I put a sleek and shine hair grease stuff in Trinity's hair to keep it from frizzing. So yesterday I put it in Nicholas' hair. He went running out to Dominick and said look Daddy, Mommy put soap in my hair (it's in a pump bottle like soap).

The Joys of Gardening

I've spent hours today working in the garden. Getting it all ready to transfer potted plants into the ground. I broke my weeding tool when I was almost half way done. My back hurts from all the bending over. We didn't grow a garden last year. So I have to catch up from the neglect last year.
Trinity was "helping" me for a while. Her helping was pointing out all of the worms, spiders, etc. and making sure I didn't smash them. Then our next door neighbor (Trinity's best friend) came home from school and wanted Trinity to come over and play.
Nicholas was taking a nap for the most part. When he woke up he played on the back patio far from the dirty mess I was in.
Dominick got home from work and I was like I broke the weed thing. He was like "so you want me to go buy a new one?" I was like "yes, but get a crowl (I think that is when it's called) instead of the other thing because it didn't work very well anyway."
I really wanted to finish today because I am thinking that tomorrow my back will hurt more than it does right now. Either way it needs to be all ready this weekend.
I just can't wait for the nice fresh vegetables to eat on this summer.

Yummy!

Last night for dinner I made Grands Biscuit Taco Cups for Cinco De Mayo. I made some homemade guacamole and edible bowls from Grands Biscuits. I just put all the ingredients out on the counter and everyone got to pick what they wanted in their bowls.

They were so good and very easy to make. The recipe is right here Pillsbury.com. Hopefully that link will take you to the right page.

What fits in this hole?

Why is it that when a child finds a hole they have to find what ever they can to fill the hole?

EXAMPLES:
Heater vents; Mommy's keys, license and debit card, blocks, a bouncy ball.
Sub woofer hole; pieces to cabbage patch memory game, blocks, a bouncy ball.
Pool table hole; plastic baby spoon, remote for TV (I was looking all over for yesterday), batteries for remote, and a bouncy ball.

This makes me wonder what else I can find if I tried to find more little holes around the house. One other question came to me when I was thinking about this. Why do we have so many bouncy balls in the house.
